Introduction to Liquid Crystals

This chapter gives an introduction to generic liquid crystals. First of all, the basic concept of liquid crystals is explained. Some well-known examples of liquid crystals are given to familiarize readers with first hand impression. Next, the history of liquid crystal is chronologically presented.
