Climate Change Mitigation

  • Vir Singh

摘要

Climate change is a pressing global issue characterized by escalating atmospheric CO2 levels. To address this challenge, our strategy should encompass preparedness, adaptation, and mitigation. Carbon sequestration mechanisms play a crucial role in removing and storing atmospheric CO2, achieved through geological carbon sequestration, carbon capture, utilization and storage, and biological carbon sequestration via photosynthesis. Implementing emission-reducing changes in our lifestyles can significantly curb global warming. Transitioning from conventional to clean energy sources like solar, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, tidal, biomass, and hydrogen energy is a key solution to combat climate change while promoting socioeconomic development. Eco-philosophy, a fusion of ecology and philosophy introduced by Professor Henryk Skolimowski, instills ecological ethics, justice, and karma, fostering a love for nature and ecological renaissance. Environmental ethics underpin the fields of geography, environmental sociology, economics, theology, and laws. International environmental law, drawn from treaties, customary law, and court decisions, plays a vital role in environmental protection through bilateral and multilateral agreements. Notable international environmental conventions and treaties include the United Nations Conference on Human Environment, Stockholm (1972), UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Kyoto Protocol, Paris Agreement, and others, all crucial for global environmental preservation. By prioritizing these strategies and international agreements, we can collectively combat climate change, safeguard the environment, and secure a sustainable future for our planet.
