Energy Resources
摘要
Vital role of energy as a capacity to do work and its significance in driving socioeconomic activities and improving the quality of life is well-known. Conventional energy sources, mainly fossil fuels, have historically shaped a country's socioeconomic status, but their depletion and environmental impacts call for a shift towards sustainable, non-conventional sources. Energy resources are classified as renewable and non-renewable, with renewable sources like solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, and hydroelectric energy offering cleaner and inexhaustible alternatives. An overview of various fossil fuels, such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas, emphasizing their impact on the global economy and energy consumption has been presented. Nuclear power, generated through nuclear fission, has a significant presence in electricity generation but raises concerns regarding radioactive waste disposal. Clean energy sources, like solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, and hydroelectric energy, offer promising alternatives with minimal environmental pollution and health hazards. Biogas energy and waste-to-energy processes present opportunities for sustainable urban energy solutions. The importance of renewable energy, like dendrothermal energy and petroplants, is highlighted, along with their potential to replace conventional fuels. Moreover, space-based solar power, hydrogen energy, and fuel cells offer innovative avenues for sustainable energy in the future. Transitioning to cleaner and sustainable energy sources is essential for mitigating environmental challenges and achieving socioeconomic progress. By embracing new and renewable energy technologies, humanity can pave the way towards a more sustainable and prosperous future.
