Magnetic Hydrogel: Biomedical Aspects

Magnetic hydrogels (MHGs) are hydrated polymer networks that rapidly respond to remote external stimuli. The unique features of these composites, such as biocompatibility, improved water absorption ability, and similarity to soft biological tissues, have made these composites more attractive and have made them effective in biomedical fields. The embedding of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) in the matrix of hydrogels is the synthesis method of this type of composites. Precise temporal and spatial functional control and the ability of non-invasive remote activation as well as multiple responsiveness without limiting the depth of tissue penetration make them a smart tool for in vivo use. In this study of hydrogels, the history, developments and evolution of hydrogels as well as their applications in biomedical topics are discussed.
