摘要

This study aims to understand the role of inclusion and exclusion which is crucial to an urban planning process for cities for crime prevention. Traditional concepts or research works only provide intermediate solutions without looking into the root cause. Understanding offenders’ decision-making helps us to understand why crime displacement (to a different situation) could be possible and thus avoiding such events entirely. The goal is to urge planners and other professionals to pay more attention to the bridge between crime prevention and how it is an important element to be considered during the design process of a built environment. The research considers conventional methods, and how they can be applied to public space design and control, without having to compromise on mobility and user experience. This research covers the most important planning and design elements that aid in the creation of a successful project.
