Comparative Assessment of Vulnerability Through Wind Analysis for a Multi-storied Building
摘要
Due to population explosion over the last few decades, erection of high-rise buildings has increased twofold all around the world. The buildings thus constructed to accommodate the increased population must be designed safe and robust. But more often than not, these structures were built without the consideration of proper codes or were built before the publication of the codes that are current and henceforth, poses a threat to the life of human and its occupants. Within these parameters, wind loading are often overlooked in design and these in turn can causes large displacement when resonant over a period of time. Wind is composed of a multitude of eddies of rotational characteristics and varying sizes carried along in a general stream of air moving relative to the earth's surface. These make it a complex phenomenon when high-rise structures were taken into account. Thus, there arise a need to necessitate the use of wind analysis on high-rise structures. This study was conducted on an already existing G + 16 building located at Delhi NCR and subjecting it to the code appropriate loading cases inclusive of wind loading. Preliminary and Detailed Evaluation of Comparative Assessment through Vulnerability was conducted through wind analysis on STAAD.Pro and ETABS 2018, for which parameters such as Displacement and Drifts were analysed and assessed. All the above results will be studied thoroughly to draw conclusions.
