Seismic-Based Comparative Analysis of Existing Structures Using P–∆ Effect
摘要
With an increase in the rate of occurrence of natural disasters, especially Geophysical Disasters such as Earthquakes, there is a need to built the structures as per the guidelines given by the respective nations worldwide while designing and analysis of the structures. The main concern arises that how to strengthen the existing structures, constructed in past decades, with little or no codal guidelines with respective to seismicity. It is an alarming situation for the structures which falls under the category of semi-tall and tall structures. This paper focused on consideration of a residential complex located in the high seismic zone of Northern India: Delhi, NCR. Three different structural models had been considered of varying heights and then were analysed under the effect of different types of loadings as per IS 875 (Part I), IS 875 (Part II), IS 1893: 2016 (Part I), and IS 16700—2017. The structures are classified as small structures, semi-tall structure, and tall structure as per the guidelines from IS 16700—2017. To get the analytical results and compare the seismic behaviour of the structures, the dimensions of the structural elements are kept same. The structural models had been analysed using ETABS—2018, under the effect of P–∆ Analysis. The results are reported by considering parameters such as Maximum Storey Displacement and Drift; with Time Period, under P—∆ Analysis, a correlation factor had also be generated to associate the results obtained for the parameters taken into consideration.
