摘要

Despite the fact that several laws protecting children and preventing sexual abuse incidents have been put into place, sexual abuse against children is the most frequent incident that takes place anywhere in the world. However, it is often a hidden instance, since the family or child do not speak out to disclose the details because of socio-cultural taboos that are prevalent in the community. Children, typically, don’t disclose facts or specifics about incidents out of fear. Children in these situations require professional assistance to deal with the intense stress and all the emotions connected to the experience. Counseling younger children is essential since they may be unaware of the sexual assault they have experienced. The counselor helps the child to deal with their emotions and improve the symptoms they are going through. The primary objectives of counseling for a child who has experienced sexual abuse are to enhance their level of well-being and prevent any prospective degradation of their mental and physical health. Counseling is designed not only to cure and ameliorate the child’s current condition but also to ensure that they have a serene and prosperous future. Children receive counseling to help them develop coping skills for future circumstances. This concise review presents a complete summary of the steps involved in counseling a sexually abused child, along with details on various counseling techniques, methods for counseling children who have experienced sexual abuse, and the essential significance of counseling for children.
