Recent Applications of Robotic Manipulator in Composite Yacht Manufacturing

In industry 4.0, the use of industrial robots in traditional manufacturing process has been growing rapidly. The implementations of the industrial robotic manipulator are conducted to improve safety, productivity, efficiency, and quality on the production line. This paper presents recent applications of the industrial robot in the composites yacht industry, including milling, additive manufacturing, coating, and paining, and surface processing. The aim of this paper is to highlight the advantages as well as to discuss the technical challenges associated with robot implementation in building a composite yacht, which are shown via the practical demonstration of a KUKA robotic manipulator.
