The PID Speed Controller Implementation Using Online-GA for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drive

摘要

This paper presents an application of the genetic algorithm to find the optimal parameters of the speed controller in the vector control structure of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). The content includes the PMSM motor model with PID speed controller, the traditional PID, and the design of the genetic algorithm for the online tuned PID speed controller. Finally, the simulations of the traditional PID speed controller and the PID speed controller are tuned online using a genetic algorithm along with the changes of parameters and variables performed in the Matlab-Simulink environment. The obtained results demonstrate that the online tuned PID speed controller using the genetic algorithm produces a much better speed response than the traditional PID of the permanent magnet synchronous motor.
