Extraterrestrial Mössbauer Spectrometry

This chapter gives us an understanding of the composition of the solar system, analyzed through Mössbauer spectrometryMössbauer spectrometry. Extraterrestrial Mössbauer studies based on the mineral analysis of meteoritesMeteorite, moonMoon samples and MarsMars exploration are discussed. The mineral composition of extraterrestrial samples probed through Mössbauer spectrometryMössbauer spectrometry could be correlated to the early composition of the solar system and the evolution of life. The results of the in situ analysis of MarsMars soil in Meridiani PlanumMeridiani Planum and Gusev craterGusev crater through 57Fe Mössbauer spectrometryMössbauer spectrometry are discussed.
