摘要

The Mössbauer effectMössbauer effect is a nuclear phenomenon where an unstable nucleus, emitting gamma raysGamma ray, is resonantly captured by another absorbing nucleus. The properties of the nucleus are governed by its constituents that are better understood by applying quantum mechanics. Fundamental properties such as nuclear charge, size, binding energyBinding energy, dipole moments and energy levels are introduced in this chapter. Radioactive decays, including gamma decay and nuclear shape, related to the Mössbauer effectMössbauer effect are presented.
