Elegance Enhanced: Object Types and Collections

This chapter focuses on improving the quality of object-based development languages and environments to make them better applicable for industry-level digital product development. The starting point is the EO language in its original form, being typeless and having very limited basic object libraries. Therefore, the main digital production challenges are usability and rigidity. To overcome these challenges, the EO framework requires critical transformation in order to ensure higher product quality and its sustainable development. At a minimum, this transformation requires a type system, and an enhanced collection of basic objects to build potentially better competitive and valuable products. This chapter presents the EO transformation story as a case study.
