Realization of Fractional Order Low Pass Filter Using Differential Voltage Current Conveyor (DVCC)

This paper summarizes the active realization of a low-pass filter (LPF) using Differential Voltage Current Conveyors (DVCC) as the current mode active block. It employs 2 DVCCs which is capable of generating both positive and negative output simultaneously along with 3 resistors and 2 fractional capacitors of order α and β respectively. The transfer function of the filter is derived and the corresponding equation for center frequency and quality factor (Q) is also derived. The circuit is simulated using 180 nm CMOS technology in LTSpice software. The stability of the suggested circuit is also studied using Pole-zero mapping in W-plane. The proposed circuit also offers the frequency control feature by varying the order α and β without changing the value of passive components.
