Errors in Medical Procedures

  • Hamid Soori

摘要

Clinical procedure errors are a global problem in healthcare systems and can arise from various factors such as inadequate training, communication breakdowns, and equipment malfunctions. Strategies such as cross-checking medication labels, computerized order entry, and automated dispensing machines can minimize medication errors. Miscommunication between health providers can be reduced through strategies to improve interactions and shared understanding. Inadequate training can contribute directly to errors that cause harm. Providing ongoing education and training to healthcare providers on best practices, safety protocols, and error prevention techniques can help minimize errors. Preventing clinical procedure errors requires a multifaceted approach that includes ensuring adequate staffing, reducing administrative burdens, fostering teamwork, providing training, identifying, and removing system error risks, and encouraging error reporting in a non-punitive manner.
