The Effects of a Green Façade on the Indoor Thermal Conditions of a Lightweight Building. An Experimental and Numerical Investigation
摘要
The present study aims to evaluate the influence of a green façade on the indoor thermal conditions of a lightweight building in a Mediterranean area using validated thermal dynamic simulations. To this aim, two identical prefabricated modules located at the University Campus of Catania (Italy), one equipped with a vertical vegetation layer and one not, were investigated. Results show that an indirect green façade with a dense foliage layer can reduce the peak indoor air temperature by up to 1.5 °C during the hottest hours, while at night the trend of the internal air temperature is the same as in the case without a green façade.
