Current Status of Medical Imaging Databases

The development of clinical medicine, education, and research is driven by the data generated in these fields. In recent years, with the rapid development of AI, data have become a crucial factor in the quality of AI products. Radiology, the primary diagnostic tool in modern medicine, contributes 70% of clinical diagnostic information and 90% of generated data in healthcare. This field is growing at a rate of over 30% annually. However, the construction of medical imaging databases has lagged behind, and the lack of adequate data for AI applications is a prominent issue. Therefore, it is imperative to increase efforts to construct and develop medical imaging databases and to draw attention to the importance of this issue among peers in the field to promote the rapid development of the industry [1–5].
