Research Report on the Current Application of Artificial Intelligence in Chinese Medical Imaging

“Artificial intelligence (AI) is an important driving force for the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. Accelerating the development of a new generation of AI is a strategic issue related to whether China can seize the opportunity of the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation.” The AI-centred information technology revolution is rapidly becoming an important driving force for transforming and upgrading traditional industries. In the field of medical imaging, AI helps achieve precise, intelligent, and networked clinical diagnoses. Currently, the developing medical imaging AI industry is booming both domestically and internationally. In recent years, AI for medical imaging has been developing rapidly in China with remarkable results [1]. Since the first AI company was approved by China’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Class III medical device registration in early 2020, more than 30 AI products have been approved [2, 3]. Medical imaging AI development in China is gradually moving from “relative ignorance” to “relative maturity.” Therefore, the medical imaging AI industry is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges in all upstream and downstream fields [4, 5]. Imaging physicians hope to learn the content of AI cutting-edge advances in depth and stand in a macro perspective to understand the development state of the national medical imaging AI to better adapt to current developments for their future planning and layout. AI-related enterprises hope to further understand the current industry development and demand to break through the bottlenecks of product development and landing. Universities hope that they can consider the current situation and deeply integrate with the industry development trend to cultivate and output medical-industrial integration talent that can adapt to future development trends in a targeted manner.
