Development and Evaluation of a Voice Command App for Smartphone Interaction Using the Speech-to-Text API
摘要
The growing popularity of voice recognition technology has led to the development of voice command apps that allow users to interact with their smartphones using simple voice commands. This project focuses on the development of a voice command application using the Speech-to-Text API, which allows users to perform various tasks such as weather forecast, connect with people, send messages, browse websites, and control devices with voice commands. The project began with extensive research into voice recognition technologies and APIs to select the most appropriate technology for Android compatibility and desired functionality. The development process included setting up the development environment, implementing speech recognition using the Speech-to-Text API, and designing intuitive application functions. The program offers a user-friendly interface and implements accurate voice recognition, converting spoken words into text to process and execute commands. The application allows users to freely control their smartphones in hands-free mode, which increases the convenience and efficiency of daily operations. The app’s compatibility with the latest Android devices and following best practices in mobile development ensures a smooth user experience. Zhang and Sahli conducted a comparative study of speech recognition libraries for voice-activated control in mobile applications, highlighting their benefits and limitations (Zhang and Sahli in Voice-activated control for mobile applications: a comparative study of speech recognition libraries. IEEE, pp. 1697–1702, 2019 [1]). Overall, this project demonstrates the possibilities of speech recognition technology in the development of mobile applications and offers a practical and innovative solution for communication with smart phones. The voice command app offers a user-friendly interface, accurate voice command recognition and a wide range of features, making it a valuable addition to the mobile app world.
