System Cost Analysis for the Designed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for Solar Pumping System

摘要

Solar pumping system has been a need when it comes to irrigation in remote areas. Various factors come into the picture which affect the efficiency of solar pumping systems like solar irradiation, environmental and meteorological factors, etc. Efficiency always plays an important role in the solar pumping system as the cost of the whole system depends upon it. As the efficiency of the motor increases, it increases the overall efficiency of the system, which results in a lesser rating of solar installed for a particular power output. The scope of this paper is to design an integrated permanent magnet synchronous motor of 5 HP and compare it with the existing induction motor and BLDC motor. Also, cost analysis has been done by considering the complete cost of solar setup from erection and motor prototype. It was found that the IM has 78%, BLDC has 86%, and the designed IPMSM has 92% efficiency. For a 5 HP motor generally being used for water pumping, consequently, it has reduced the cost of the whole system. System cost analysis is done to prove the overall efficacy of the solar pumping system.
