Data Engineering-Based Research on the Disasters Along the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor

摘要

As a result of the natural geographical features and climatic conditions along the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (hereinafter referred to as “CPEC”), the CPEC is a hazard-prone region frequently inflicted by various geological hazard, such as ice-fall, avalanche, freeze–thaw, landslide, debris flow, rock-fall, flood and glacial lake outburst, which pose great threats to the infrastructure construction in the region. In the light of the scarcity of observation systems and a lack of observation data along the corridor, we introduced the engineering idea and established a data engineering technological architecture based on available data resources and finite problem-solving goals in this paper. Instead of pursuing the process mechanism of hazards along the CPEC, we strive to figure out the hazard laws behind the data, so as to reveal the typical natural disasters along the corridor according to these laws, and analyze the evolution of typical disasters. For this purpose, we established data production systems for studying the conditions of the hazard-inducing environmental factors along the CPEC, built online models of disaster identification and analysis along the corridor, carried out the vulnerability assessment of debris flow and gravel-sliding slope, typical flood prediction and the simulation and prediction of extreme low temperature, strong wind and rainstorm in the coming 7 days in Gaizi Valley. In addition, we explored the application scenarios of data engineering in disaster analysis and prediction along the CPEC, and verified the feasibility of data engineering in disaster prevention and mitigation.
