High-Performance Computing Technology Contributes to the Construction of the Earth System Numerical Simulation Device

摘要

Numerical simulation is a considerable means to drive the earth science research forward. The earth system model, as the flag of the national science and technology strength, is the fundamental tool for earth system numerical simulation. As one of the national scientific and technological infrastructure construction project during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, the “Numerical Simulation Device of the Earth System”, which is designed based on the Chinese earth system model software with the high-performance computer, is aimed to supply an experimental platform for earth system research and application, which provide guarantees and scientific support for the high-level earth system scientific research and application, national disaster prevention and mitigation, climate and environmental governance and carbon emission and neutrality. Based on a brief introduction to the construction of the Earth system numerical simulation device, this paper will focus on introducing the development of the software, “Earth System Model Numerical Simulation System,” and the optimization based on high-performance parallel computing. At last, it will show the trend of the development of high resolution and high complexity of the numerical simulation of the Earth system.
