摘要

To address the common challenges that human face in the context of globalization, the open sharing of research infrastructures has become vital important. However, it is still prevalent to see silos, gaps, and grey areas in the sharing of research resources across domains and disciplines in data centers, repositories, platforms, facilities, and initiatives. To help bridge the gaps among research infrastructures, we propose to co-design and co-build the Global Open Science Cloud (GOSC) during the CODATA 2019 Beijing Conference. Based on a lightweight review of global research infrastructures, this paper introduces the concept, landscape, and progress of the Global Open Science Cloud (GOSC) initiative. Besides, we report on the progress of the GOSC Initiative in terms of strategic planning, governance mechanisms, and international alignment. Looking into the future, GOSC will be enriched by the open, collaborative, trustworthy, and sustainable framework to provide tailored cloud-based services for typical intercontinental scientific research scenarios.
