Novel Coronavirus National Science and Technology Resource Service System

The Novel Coronavirus National Science and Technology Resource Service System which jointly constructed by Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention was officially launched on Jan 24, 2020. The system authoritatively released scientific data of COVID-19 immediately and without any delay including the first electron micrograph of the virus, nucleic acid sequence information and primer design suggestions which provide important data support for global pneumonia epidemic prevention, control and scientific research work. On the basis of the management and release of scientific data resources, the service system further utilizes the advantages of long-term data accumulation and analysis model development experience in the field of microbiology, and strengthens support for microbiological data analysis and mining. Focused on genomics and structural biology, the Novel Coronavirus National Science and Technology Resource Service System 2.0–New Coronavirus Variation Evaluation and Early Warning System (VarEPS) was officially released. It is the world's first system for multi-dimensional risk assessment and early warning of known and virtual variants in the SARS-CoV-2 genome. This system has received widespread attention from the domestic and international community. The system supports Chinese scientists to publish articles in internationally renowned journals such as Nature, Science and Lancet by publishing genome sequence data and protein crystal structure data. On November 23, 2020, the system was selected as one of the 15 world's leading scientific and technological achievements of Wuzhen World Internet Conference.
