My Interesting Experiences in STQC: Certification, Accreditation, and Training

The author shares his experiences while serving in STQC, MeitY, Govt. of India during the years 1983–2008. He was involved in establishing the Test & Calibration Laboratory, first at ERTLE, Kolkata, and later posted at ETDC, Mohali and at IIQM/ETDC, Jaipur. The experiences have been presented as case studies, in the training, certifications, and accreditation. The first case study describes developing Training Programs, at IIQM, for i. Lead Auditor/Auditor, ii. Internal Auditor, for approval by IRCA(UK). The second case study covers the experiences of conducting the audit of an electronic factory, located at Gurugram, and witnessed by experts of BSI(QA), UK, as a part of signing the MOU between STQC and BSI(QA), for carrying out audits, in India, on behalf of BSI(QA). The third case study highlights the first audit of CPRI, Bengaluru, for accreditation of the number of their laboratories, carried out by NABL, where the author was the lead assessor, and the audit team had five more experts as assessors. The concluding case study 4 pertains to experiences in getting the approval of ERTLE, as an Independent Test Laboratory, under the IECQ System, for electronic components, during the visit by a team of experts from China, UK, and Belgium.
