Metal-organic framework (MOF)-based composites have been developed to integrate respective features of the two materials toward diverse applications. The characteristic features of MOFs can be translated into MOF composites with additional properties including the stability, conductivity, and functional active sites. Herein, synthesis methods used to produce MOF composites and current developments in MOF composites for various applications have been summarized. Additionally, the ways in which MOFs counteract with different substrates to produce functional materials for different applications were thoroughly examined, highlighting the MOF composites not only as promising materials but also as unique solutions to the rising problems of modern society.
