Civil–Military Relations: A Panacea to Conflicts

The importance of civil–military relations in resolving issues like state fragility, governance crises, insurgent assaults, and threats to public order from spoilers and criminals in society is examined in this essay. The paper explores what constitute a flourishing relationship or team and what impact that relations had on solving the conflict in society. The paper relies on secondary sources of information. Anchored on institutionalism and agency center approaches as the theoretical framework of analysis. The paper finds that civil–military relations enable societies to deal with the cause or sources of conflict and build the foundation for a feasible peace. The concluding section identifies the pitfalls or shortcomings inherent in the civil–military relations and also makes some suggestions for the success of civil–military relations approach as a panacea or solution to conflicts in society.
