Introduction

This book is the first academic monograph on PAFCS in China. In this book, the researchers construct a theoretical framework of PAFCS; review the current situation; investigate farmers’ intentions, constraints, and willingness to participate sustainedly in FCS projects; analyse farmers’ cultural adaptability, community participation, elite participation, and farmers’ returns; and propose PAFCS performance evaluation methods. As an introduction, this chapter will help readers establish a general understanding of the book. First, the researchers introduce the research background and state the salient implications. Second, the book’s research objectives and main contents are outlined. Next, research ideas, methodologies, methods, and data sources are introduced. Finally, the originality and possible limitations of the research are stated.
