Immunoprecipitation

Immunoprecipitation (IP) is an immunological technique in which antibodies are used to pull down a target protein from a mixed solution. This happens through affinity binding between the antibody and protein of interest. IP technique helps to identify in vivo protein–protein and protein–nucleic acid interactions (Ranawakage et al. 2019). Once the protein of interest is precipitated from the solution, the interacting protein(s) or nucleic acid (DNA or RNA) can be identified by western blot or PCR, respectively.
