Coma in Neurocritical Care

Management of acute and prolonged coma is the most important and central theme of neurology, especially critical care neurology. Although acute and prolonged coma is a challenging condition, many of them are treatable, and also, many of them remain comatose with or without appropriate diagnostic work-up and treatment. In this chapter, the most important and often overlooked points and related issues in the differential diagnosis and management of comatose patients will be introduced from the standpoint of critical care neurology for those physicians in charge irrespective of the specialty and subspecialty.
