Dynamic Control of Magnetorheological Hydro-Pneumatic Suspension

A magnetorheological hydro-pneumatic (MRHP) suspension and an effective control method were proposed to enhance vehicle’s ride comfort. Firstly, a testing system for the properties of the MRHP spring was established and its mechanical properties were tested. Secondly, the nonlinear model of the MRHP spring was established. Thirdly, a 9-DOF vehicle dynamics model of the MRHP suspension was established. Finally, an effective semi-active controller for the MRHP suspension was proposed using the On–Off control method. The numerical analysis results showed that the control method for MRHP suspension can significantly improve the ride comfort and handling stability.
