Dynamics Modelling and Simulation of Parachute Cluster Based on Rmstmm

The parachute system in the steady descent phase consists of four main parachutes, riser, artillery cargo and so on, is a typical multibody system. In this paper, a parachute cluster dynamics model considering the contact collision between each main parachute is first established based on the reduced multibody transfer matrix method (RMSTMM) which is no need for global dynamic equations and has high computational speed. The dynamics responses of the cargo are compared with Newton–Euler method under the wind condition. The dynamics model for parachute cluster established by RMSTMM is validated. The research of this paper lays a foundation for rapid modelling and simulation of the cargo airdrop.
