Study on the Shafting Vibration by Non-newtonian Fluid Lubrication Layer

Bearing-bearing structure is widely used in the shaft transmission of ships, and the gap between the two is extremely narrow, which will form a thin lubrication layer. The relative movement of the shaft and bearing seat under high temperature and high pressure transforms the fluid in thin lubricating layer into non-Newtonian fluid. Because of its unique characteristics, it is necessary to study characteristics of non-Newtonian fluid lubrication. Based on Reynolds lubrication equation, a typical Bearing-bearing structure is established, and the vibration characteristics of non-Newtonian fluid lubrication layer are studied. The comparison of numerical results shows that the bearing capacity of non-Newtonian fluid is higher than that of Newtonian fluid under the same conditions. The variations of eccentricity, eccentricity angle and water film thickness have similar trends with that of Newton fluid lubrication layer, but there may be large local fluctuations.
