摘要

Threaded fasteners are widely used in industry. Their main shortcoming is proneness to failure under long-term external vibrational forces. The axial vibrational force causes fatigue failure, while the tangential vibrational force causes loosening failure. This study aims to improve fasteners’ resistance to both types. We designed a novel threaded pair structure by adjusting the pitch of the ordinary nut thread. Using the finite element method (FEM) and experiments we proved the superior performance of the proposed design, compared to the ordinary fastener. The anti-fatigue and anti-loosening mechanisms of the novel threaded pair structure were examined by FEM. Due to an unsophisticated structure, the manufacturing cost of the novel fastener is comparable to the ordinary fastener. Therefore, the proposed design can be suitable for a variety of engineering applications.
