Information Technology Adoption in Legislative Work: The Lebanese Parliament Model

This chapter explores the adoption of information technology (IT) in legislative work, specifically in the Lebanese Parliament. With the increasing use of IT in various fields, the legislative sector cannot be left behind. The study focuses on the implementation of IT in the Lebanese Parliament, analyzing the current state of technology adoption, identifying the challenges faced in its implementation, and proposing solutions to enhance its use. The research methodology includes a literature review, quantitative data analysis, and case study approach. The study findings reveal that IT adoption in the Lebanese Parliament has been slow and only at 25% of its potential use, with various challenges such as lack of resources, resistance to change, and lack of technical expertise. However, the study proposes several solutions to overcome these challenges, including training programs, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. The chapter concludes that IT adoption in legislative work is essential for efficient and effective decision-making processes, and the Lebanese Parliament should prioritize its implementation to enhance its legislative processes.
