Sustainable Tourism Development on the Basis of Research on Coastal Urban Morphology, Case Study Nha Trang, Viet Nam

This article studies the relationship between urban morphology and tourism development in the coastal city of Nha Trang. The studies show how urban morphology attracts tourists in the context of competition between tourist cities nowadays as well as the role of tourism in changing the urban landscape. Can the orientation of tourism urban planning based on the study of urban morphology determine what is in the city's tourism development? This research investigates the natural condition and topography of the coastal urban Nha Trang, and the development process of urban space through tourism service buildings; especially, high-rise resort buildings to identify the characteristics of a coastal tourist city and their influence on the city's tourism development. Specifically, the research method is carried out through the collection of data, maps of city development over time, and general planning of Nha Trang city. Through the analysis of urban morphology associated with the development of coastal high-rise buildings and resort projects, the interrelationships between them are established. The obtained results can help local managers have a better view of tourism development based on urban morphology, to orient sustainable tourism development for the city.
