Explaining the Dilemmas of Regional Conflicts, Migration, Security, and UN Resolutions
摘要
This chapter explores the complex challenges associated with regional conflicts and the United Nations’ (UN) involvement in addressing them through resolutions and peacekeeping initiatives. It highlights the obstacles presented by conflicts, including the tension between sovereignty and humanitarian intervention, geopolitical tensions within the UN Security Council, and the issues encountered during peacekeeping operations. Important UN resolutions related to migration and conflict are examined, underscoring the need to protect the rights of migrants and foster international cooperation. The analysis also investigates the impact of nonstate actors and terrorism on conventional diplomatic resolutions. Finally, it discusses potential approaches to enhancing the UN’s methods for addressing conflicts, advocating for reforms in the Security Council, more explicit directives for peacekeeping missions, and improved regional collaboration. Through this examination, the chapter emphasizes the necessity of a unified response to regional disputes to promote global peace and stability.
