Return migration is the decisive subprocess of international labor migration. The inclusion of the gender perspective in the discourse on return migration has recently attracted the attention of scholars, albeit not to a sufficient extent. Based on the findings from previous literature on this topic, this study aims to analyze return migration from a gender perspective. The objectives of this chapter include analyzing recent research trends on return migration from a gender perspective and making suggestions for the future direction of research in this area. The chapter is divided into five sections, including the conceptualization of return migration, return migration and gender, gender-specific experiences of returnees, gender-specific challenges in the reintegration process after return, and gender-specific support services for returnees after return. The discussion will conclude with an outlook for future research.
