The 2003 US Intervention of Iraq: Objectives, Implications, and Global Security Dynamics

The invasion of Iraq by the USA in 2003 is a critical event in the entire history of international relations. Various studies have attempted to understand the motives behind the US invasion and the fall of Saddam’s regime. The study of US motivations has been conducted on three levels of analysis: the international, the state, and the individual level. The three levels differentiate and fragment the drivers of the invasion by incorporating the various elements that played a role during this time at both the international and domestic levels in the USA and Iraq. This study has analyzed the events on these three levels and shown how the mindset of the Bush regime, the general perception of the USA, and the authoritarian regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq led to the 2003 invasion. In addition, the study has also identified some hidden motivations behind the cause of humanity. The author has outlined how the demand for energy provoked the invasion in 2003. It has also discussed how the Arab-Israeli war and the OPAC countries played their role in the Iraq policy. Finally, the author has discussed how the enforced neoliberal regime in the Iraqi economy has worsened the situation of the country. The link between economic instability and social disruption is also examined and the past and current indicators in Iraq are also analyzed to provide a holistic view of the invasion.
