Retrofitting of Corrosion-Damaged Reinforced Concrete Shear Walls with BFRP Sheets

The shear walls are the main member of resisting lateral loads in RC structures under the earthquakes. In this chapter, results showed that: (1) the half-cell potentials were used to analyze and evaluate the corrosion rate of reinforcing bars and load-bearing capacity of RC shear walls; (2) the seismic performance of RC shear walls was influenced by the corrosion of reinforcing bars; (3) the seismic performance of corroded RC shear walls improved by retrofitting with BFRP sheets and the model for the ultimate shear strength of corroded RC shear walls retrofitting with BFRP sheets was proposed in consideration of corrosion rate as well as FRP confinement; and (4) the seismic performance of RC shear walls could be improved by strengthening with BFRP sheets and the model for the shear strength of strengthened RC shear walls was proposed in consideration of strengthening types of BFRP sheets.
