Retrofitting of Corrosion-Damaged Reinforced Concrete Beam-Column Joints with BFRP Sheets

The beam-column joints regarded as the critical member of RC structures undergo large deformations and stress under the earthquakes. In this chapter, results showed that: (1) the seismic performance of RC beam-column joints decreased when the reinforcing bars corroded; (2) the seismic performance of corroded RC beam-column joints improved by retrofitting with BFRP sheets; (3) the seismic performance of earthquake and corrosion damaged RC beam-column joints could be retrofitted with BFRP sheets; and the models for the shear strength of joint core area of damaged RC beam-column joints retrofitting with FRP sheets were proposed; and (4) the strengthening techniques for improving the seismic performance of joints were also proposed.
