Introduction

RC structures are the main structural forms and have been extensively utilized in engineering. The surface layer of the reinforcement is damaged due to either carbonation of the concrete cover or chloride penetration, contributing to the reinforcement corrosion. The reinforcement corrosion will lead to the decrease of bond behavior between reinforcing bars and concrete, as well as the seismic performance of RC members. In this chapter, the significance of researches on the performance of corroded RC structures and damaged RC structures retrofitted with FRP sheets was presented. Techniques for retrofitting the corrosion-damaged RC members such as beams, columns, beam-column joints, and shear walls with FRP, as well as the bond behavior between FRP sheets or bars and concrete were introduced. Finally, the objectives and scope of this monograph were presented.
