Drought is one of the biggest challenges limiting the food security and lives of people of the world. It deals with significant natural resource limitation caused by a shortage of water in many of the developing part of India. Managing drought and water scarcity is crucial for addressing key development goals in dry areas. These affected regions lacks contingency planning as a result of insufficient financial resources, an inadequate understanding of its impacts, and poor cooperation among government institutions. Although, drought is an unavoidable climatic phenomenon, however it can be intervened and its preparedness can lead to better preparation to construct more resilient ecosystems which will enable to recover from its impact. Drought preparedness involves geographical improvements of agricultural systems by adopting concept of seed, fodder, nutrient banks, and enhancing irrigation efficiency by encouraging water conservation and groundwater use.
