Geotechnical Investigation

Geological data for a site is considered as ‘horoscope’ and geotechnical investigation report is ‘Medical or Health Audit Report’ of the site. When a public or private sector investor plans to venture into a new investment plan on a project, he certainly will prefer to ensure geological stability and constructability of foundations at the site. Planning type of foundation and designs is based on conclusions and recommendations of geotechnical investigation report on the projects site. Aspects of engineering geology have been discussed in Chap.  2 , and geotechnical aspects are covered in this chapter.
