Social Media and Health Care: Effectiveness of Education About COVID-19 Vaccination to Improve Knowledge and Attitudes in Students

摘要

Immune responses at the cellular and humoral levels are boosted by vaccination, which has a protective impact. There is a lot of information in the mainstream media and on social media that casts doubt on the efficacy of vaccination in halting the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The level of disinformation being communicated about the COVID-19 vaccination and the connection between misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine and vaccine hesitancy have both been the subject of studies, including those on misinformation on social media platforms. Therefore, this study was to examine how college students’ knowledge and attitudes about the COVID-19 immunization changed as a result of receiving instruction about the vaccination. Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta. This study uses a quantitative research method with a quasi-experimental design, which is one group pre-test and post-test design. The number of samples in this study was 44 respondents, using instruments in the form of questionnaires and data analysis using the Paired Sample T Test. The test results using the Wilcoxon test showed an increase in knowledge with a value of p = 0.014 (p < 0.05) and attitude with a value of p = 0.001 (p < 0.05). The conclusion of the research is that first, education about COVID-19 vaccination is effective in increasing students’ knowledge about COVID-19 vaccination. Second, education about COVID-19 vaccination is effective in increasing attitudes about COVID-19 vaccination in students.
