摘要

This study investigates the impact of state institutions on incremental housing finance in South African low-income communities. It demonstrates the role of incremental housing finance in promoting inclusive housing for low-income groups in the country using a mixed-method approach that includes case study content analysis and interviews/surveys with 5 top executives at the National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC). This study examines the impact of the NHFC on incremental housing finance in low-income communities in South Africa. According to the findings, incremental housing finance bridges the housing affordability gap for low to middle-income earners in South Africa. In addition, the study identifies three components required for establishing incremental housing finance: institutional financing, funding from both private and public entities, and regulation. The findings confirm the ability of public and private entities to collaborate to create inclusive financing through incremental housing finance.
