Vibroacoustic of Extruded Panels Excited by a Turbulent Boundary Layer

A hybrid finite element (FE) and statistical energy analysis (SEA) model is established for computing the vibroacoustic response of finite-sized panels excited by a turbulent boundary layer (TBL). In the hybrid model, the TBL is modelled using Corcos’ model in the wavenumber domain. The panels are modelled using finite elements, and acoustic waves in the fluid space below the panels are modelled using SEA. The hybrid model expands the application range of TBL empirical model and uses FE-SEA to calculate the structural acoustic response. Numerical examples of a complex panel with a corrugated core, typically used in the construction of high-speed train bodies, are presented to verify the hybrid model and demonstrate its usefulness in modelling the vibroacoustic characteristics of complex structures. For complex panels, using analytical methods is difficult. The hybrid model proposed in this study is easily implemented and robust in modelling the vibroacoustic performance of complicated structures.
