摘要

Nanoscience has always been considered as an excellent tool for sensing applications. The detection of explosives using nanomaterials and derived materials has been helpful, owing to the superior characteristics of nanomaterials. Several nanomaterials, such as metal nanoparticles, carbon-based nanomaterials, metal oxide nanoparticles, hybrid nanomaterials and nanoclusters, have been prominently used as explosive detectors. With the immense growth of nanotechnology, portable devices have been widely fabricated, leading to swift detection of explosives, such as nitroaromatic compounds. In this chapter, a detailed discussion of nanomaterials for explosive detection has been presented, along with the available technology and future scopes. Although there are few limitations to the fabrication of explosive detectors, with nanotechnology, improved devices with high selectivity have been developed in recent times.
