Agewell Foundation, an NGO, revealed in 2019 survey that 71% of elder abuse cases are from family members, relatives, or children. During Covid-19 pandemic, it is expected that elderly people will receive more respect and care from their family members. Because, several restrictions were imposed by the government during the lockdown in India. Lockdown especially affected life or elderly people due to restriction to access their daily activity such as exercise, morning-evening walk, medical checkup, social gathering, etc. Restrictions not only made on elderly people to go outside but to meet with their family members too. In place of social distancing, they were socially isolated which increased physical and mental illness among elder people. This chapter is based on collected data through content analysis published in various national and international newspaper, journals, and magazines. The main idea of this chapter is to highlight elder abuse that has increased during Covid-19 in Indian society. Level of analysis in this chapter is both theoretical and conceptual. Analysis of this chapter has included social bond theory, labeling theory, and stigma to relate elder abuse incidents during Covid-19 pandemic in India.
