Moth Swarm Algorithm with Centre-Based Sampling Technique for the Optimal Operation of a Hybrid Power System Incorporating Static Synchronous Compensator
摘要
A hybrid optimal power flow (OPF) model considering the conventional thermal unit (CTU), intermittent wind energy (WE), and photovoltaic energy (PVE) is formulated in the present paper. For secure operation of the considered power system, a single static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is optimally placed and configured. In order to achieve better exploration, an intelligent technique called the centre-based sampling technique with dynamic range (CSDR) is integrated with the moth swarm algorithm (MSA). The proposed algorithm termed MSA with the CSDR or MSA-CSDR is used to optimize the hybrid OPF model integrated with STATCOM. To verify the strength of the proposed algorithm, results are compared with the two effective algorithms, i.e. the opposition-based MSA (OBMSA) and MSA. The result analysis confirms that our proposed algorithm is more suitable with respect to solution quality, accuracy, and convergence ability than the OBMSA and MSA.
